Music is my only passion
Solomon Badasu Gbeve, known as HM EyeJah, is a versatile Ghanaian afrobeats and dancehall artist, born on 15th November 2000 in Tema, and the only male and second of four siblings. In 2002, his parents relocated to Kpone-on-Sea which is located along the coast in the Greater Accra Region and shares boundaries with Tema to the west, Prampram to the east, the Gulf of Guinea at the south and Ashaiman to the north.
HM EyeJah had the passion for music from age 5, listening to his Dad play some reggae music from Lucky Dube, Bob Marley and other renowned musicians, especially every weekend. At age 11 (Grade 5), he started participating in few rap/ragga competition at school, earning the name Lil Banner. A name a fan in the school initiated by joining “Banner” meaning “a flag that bears a slogan” and “Lil” which means “Little”. This happened after he won an inter-school freestyle music performance competition within the district.
After completing his education at Kpone Presby JHS, he decided to pursue a career in music. To embark on this musical journey, he adopted the name HM (HeroMade) EyeJah (Eyes of Jah), simply meaning apple of God’s eye. This name confirmed his ultimate faith in God as the creator and protector of all. HM EyeJah explained the meaning of his name by referring to Psalm 17:8 “Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings.”
The early years of his musical career were used in shaping and fine-tuning his musical skills, reflecting well in his first studio song titled “Spliff” which was recorded in 2017 on a mixtape. To build an impressive portfolio, HM EyeJah signed with RiverJam Entertainment in 2024 and preparing to release his debut single titled “Take Over” in December 2024. The title of the song reflects his objective to impact and transform lives positively through music and be one of the biggest musicians from Ghana. He anticipates to follow up with a couple of singles and EP in 2025.
HM EyeJah has great admiration for Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy for their hardwork and consistency, as well as artists like Vybz Kartel, Jahmeil, Alkaline, Popcaan and Busy Signal. He wants to see the world as a place of possibilities for everyone with love and positivity in everything. This led to the call of his fanbase as SkulSyd which simply means movement of determined people. HM EyeJah be kept as the apple of the eye, and hid under the shadow of the wings of the Almighty forever!
